Colorado Avalanche.

The Avalanche will play their second game of the season after beating the Chicago Blackhawks 4-1 on Wednesday night at home. The Avalanche went o-4 on the power play against the Hawks, but had great success against the Blues last season. The Avs scored 13 PP goals in 38 tries for a PP% of 34.2.

NHL making mental health number 1 priority

This is the first of three meetings between the Avalanche and Blues and the first of two at Ball Arena. The Avs will visit St. Louis only once (Oct. 28), as Dallas is the only other Central Division foe who will play the Avalanche three times instead of four. These two clubs both competed in the West Division last season, with the Avs winning the regular-season series 5-3-0 and then sweeping the Blues in four games during the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. According to the media notes released by the league.

Former St. Louis number one overall draft pick Erik Johnson is the longest-tenured Avalanche starting his 12th Season since being traded by the Blues. He ranks fourth in the Avs behind only Joe Sakic  (20), Adam Foote (17), and Milan Hejduk (14), with Foote the only other defenseman.

The Avalance won the Season series 5-3 while both teams were in the Honda West Division.  St Louis outscored the Avs’ 15-13 even strength.

The Avalance will be without Jack Johnson, Nathan MacKinnon because of COVID-19 protocols, and Gabriel Landeskog will serve his first of a two-game suspension tonight.
